About Us

Marta, Owner

Marta Hansen, a Sun Prairie native, is the owner of The Piano Gal Shop. Marta has a Music Education Degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and has years of experience as a teacher, musician, and piano tuner. She is passionate about music and strives to share that passion with the community. She opened the brick and mortar, Piano Gal Shop, back in November 2013. It’s a welcoming and fun music store offering piano lessons, guitar and ukulele lessons, and voice lessons. The shop also has a wide array of unique music products, used pianos, new guitars and ukuleles, music accessories, and gifts for music lovers. The shop offers extensive piano tuning and repair services, as well.

Debe, Office Manager

Debe, Marta’s mom, has been working at the shop since 2013 and she is an absolutely essential part of what keeps the store running smoothly. She has had her share of experience in small business, having owned a very successful bakery/deli on the UW-Madison campus for 22 years, called Baker’s Too. She’s a huge support at the shop and an amazing saleswoman.

Clarisse, Studio Manager

Clarisse, a Vocal Performance grad from Illinois Weslyan is both on staff and is a teacher at the shop. She has been part of the team since 2016 and is truly part of the family. She helps keep the shop running smoothly. She teaches piano, voice, and composition lessons, as well. If you have a music question, Clarisse can help you out.

Ian, Inventory Manager

Ian has been part of the team for over 3 years and is the organizer of the group. He helps us keep on top of inventory and helps us with any of our technical issues. If something needs fixing or ordering, Ian is there to lend a hand. He also is one of our amazing teachers, offering lessons in piano for all ages.

Caryl

Caryl is the newest member of the team and we are so happy she has joined us! She comes to us from the world of IT and has been an amazing help and addition to The Piano Gal staff. Caryl loves blues music and dogs. In fact, she rescues senior dogs and gives them a loving home. If you need something at the shop, Caryl can help you out.
